RICHARD CRADDOCK was born and educated in Edinburgh and studied Architecture at Clare College, Cambridge. While a student he also became heavily involved in the world of music. The combination of art and music led inevitably to designing posters and sets for student concerts and productions at the university. In 1983 he collaborated in staging the British Première of Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti.

Richard has realised numerous cover designs for Collegium Records, created by the British composer, John Rutter. Techniques for the cover artwork have included colour crayon, airbrush, linework, photography, illuminated manuscript and painting with a toothbrush! Richard sees himself primarily as an artist creating a visual expression of the music, and prefers to use the music itself as the initial inspiration for any design. He has also handled various advertising materials including letterheads and logos, photographs and CD catalogues.

His clients for graphic work in Belgium include the Finnish House, Antwerp, Beauvoir sa, Phone Languages and Belgacom Directory Services, Artis Historia, OGC, the Finnish Cultural Centre in Antwerp, UCL, the monthly magazine, Periscoop and the quarterly magazine, EcoLobby News.

Work for the European Commission includes the graphic design for a touring exhibition with JWA to encourage recycling and waste limitation and posters for renewable energy.

In the field of painting, Richard frequently creates watercolour perspectives for architectural projects as well as fine art in watercolour, gouache or oils.

Richard is married to Claire de Burbure de Wesembeek and they have three children.
