STEPHAN STOUFFS grew up in Overijse, south of Brussels and studied Architecture at the Saint Luke Institute in Brussels.
æin the Studio for Interior and Industrial Design OY SISTEM. He worked in a variety of fields such as product design for Lyktan Sweden, interior design of restaurant coaches for the Finnish Railway, furniture design for a private house in Kuwait and architectural design for a private house in Helsinki.
From 1988 until 1991 Stephan joined Architects Co-Partnership north of London where he worked in a team on major projects such as the extension to HM Prison Bedford and the Chemistry 2 department of Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London.
In September 1991 Stephan moved back to Belgium to join his college friends in Group ES°TE. He was coordinating the second phase of the North Gate office development in Brussels.
In 1992 he started the refurbishment of the Finnish House in Antwerp and launched his own practice in February 1993 in Brussels. Since then, he has been working on several refurbishment and new-build projects in Belgium and abroad.
In 1999 Stephan was a founding member of iD Studio Architects .
Stephan is married to Arja Penttinen who is a Finnish textile designer, and they have one son, Joakim. As a Christian, he tries to reflect his beliefs and values in his daily life and work. |
